Sebastian Jakobsen
Location: Copenhagen, Denmark
Sebastian Hvalsøe Jakobsen (b. 1996) is a self-taught Danish artist based in Copenhagen. He works in the field of tension between drawing, ceramics, sculpture, performance and painting. Trained at Holbæk Kunsthøjskole and Engelsholm Højskole, Jakobsen's practice forms an ongoing investigation of the human existential trajectory — in which rebirth, life, death and awakening are articulated as interdependent forces rather than separate events. Drawing on gothic vocabularies and a refined sense for the logic of opposites, Jakobsen stages works that generate friction between light and dark, the sacred and the profane, the eternal and the transient. Jakobsen has held solo exhibitions at Arnestedet in Vesterbro (2024) and VML Copenhagen (2024), and has exhibited and performed at Springbrættet (Heimdalsgade 6A, Copenhagen) (2022).
