Petra Gavalcova

In a world preoccupied with perfection, Petra Gavalcova seeks freedom through imperfection. Her practice is a continuing attempt to move past self-imposed limits by immersing herself in the liberating space of abstraction. Through playful experiments with colour, texture and material, she embraces the creative force that emerges when control is let go. Her series Fabulous Fakes celebrates that journey. By analysing the colours of the art world's great masters, she deconstructs and reconstructs masterpieces — breaking down the ideal, freeing them from the demand for perfection, and creating her own distinct narrative. In From Images in My Head, Petra presents a series of small sculptures and objects exploring the relationship between artistic vision and material reality. Each work becomes a point of contact between imagination and matter, between the imagined and that which takes form.
